How do I recognise the rare 10 CZK from 1993 (small "Kč")?

This special variant was made as a trial striking in a limited mintage of just 1,000 pieces. On the standard ten-crown coin a line passes through the letters "Kč" roughly in the middle. On the rare "small Kč" variant the lettering is more delicate and the line crosses the letters much higher up. This unique coin can fetch six-figure sums at auction, in contrast to the standard 10 CZK 1993, of which 70 million are in circulation. Photographs and detailed identification points

How do I have an old coin or banknote valued?

We offer a free, non-binding consultation for buy-back or auction consignment; written expert appraisals and valuations are issued for a fee. We draw on current auction results and will always give you an objective view on sale or investment. More on buy-back and valuation

How do I invest in gold and silver coins?

Start with a goal, a budget and an investment horizon. Standard investment coins – for instance the Krugerrand, Wiener Philharmoniker or Maple Leaf – trade chiefly on metal content, purity and the current gold or silver price. Purity varies: the Krugerrand is struck in 916.7/1000 gold, while the Wiener Philharmoniker and Maple Leaf are 999.9/1000 fine. Historical and collector coins are judged differently: condition, rarity, provenance and collector demand matter. A one-ounce coin has a lower entry cost than a large bar or ingot, but when comparing the price per gram, always watch the premium over the metal price.

How do I sell old coins and banknotes?

There are several options. We buy material from antiquity through to the modern era – historical, circulation, gold and silver coins, banknotes and faleristics. Funds are paid out immediately in cash or by express bank transfer. More exclusive items can be entered into one of our prestigious auctions , where they often realise the highest return. Consultation is free and non-binding. Written expert appraisals and valuations are issued for a fee. More on buy-back and valuation

How do I determine the value of a coin?

The value of a coin is determined by several factors. These include the coin's age, the metal it is struck from, and the mintage (its rarity). The range of coin types and denominations is vast, so there are coins thousands of years old that are worth very little, while modern coins can be highly sought after by collectors. For more detail see our article or get in touch. We are happy to help and answer any further questions on the subject. How to contact us – click here

How do I invest in silver coins?

Investing in silver coins is similar to gold. Silver coins can be more attractive thanks to their lower price, and a much wider range of types and designs is struck. Mintage matters: some limited strikes can sell well above the bare metal value.

Bullet points are fine. For questions about a specific coin, the year, metal and a description of the grade help — without them it is hard to advise.
