How to choose a gift when you are not a collector
Start with the year of birth: every year from 1900 to 2025 has its own page of pieces in stock. Then set a budget and add the case and the certificate with a dedication.
For a non-collector the story of the piece decides (year, country, motif), not the denomination or the catalogue number. Proof is the mirror-finish top strike, standard quality is the ordinary one; both are genuine.
1. Start with the year of birth
The year is the easiest starting point: the recipient knows it, you know it, and a coin from that year makes sense at once. Enter the year and choose from what is in stock.

When the year is not enough, what the recipient enjoys or what you are celebrating helps. Each page below shows only the pieces in stock that fit.
3. Budget
Four price bands that most gifts fall into. Price and grade are shown on every piece; the set adds the case and the certificate.
- up to 500 CZK A banknote from a country they travel to, or a small coin from the year of birth.
- up to 1,000 CZK A coin from the year of birth in a case, with a certificate and a dedication.
- up to 5,000 CZK A silver commemorative coin or a year set from the year of birth.
- a gift of value A gold coin — for a new baby, a golden wedding or a milestone birthday.
4. Proof or standard?
Proof is the top strike made with polished dies: mirror fields, matt relief. It looks ceremonial, but a fingerprint will stay on it — which is why it belongs in a capsule and a case.
Standard quality (BK) is the ordinary strike. It costs less and can be handled. Both are genuine and both can come with a certificate.
5. Case and certificate with a dedication
The Leuchtturm Volterra case is a small wooden box with a Quadrum capsule cut exactly to the coin’s diameter. It is offered for coins up to 41 mm; banknotes and books go without it.
The AUREA certificate of authenticity is a document for one specific piece, with a photograph, the parameters and the appraiser’s signature. The dedication — at most two lines — is printed directly on it.
6. Delivery and documents
Pieces in stock are dispatched within 2 working days. You can send the gift straight to the recipient — just enter a different delivery address in the order.
The invoice goes by e-mail; there is none in the parcel. In-person pickup at the shop in Prague is possible during opening hours.

Which makes the better gift: a coin or a banknote?
A banknote is the cheaper way in and carries both a country and a year; a coin holds the value of its metal and fits in the case. For a non-collector the story decides — year of birth, country, motif — not the denomination.
What does proof mean?
Proof is the highest striking quality: mirror-like fields and a matt relief, struck with polished dies. “Standard quality” (BK) is the ordinary strike for circulation or for collectors. A proof piece costs more and is sensitive to touch — it goes into the case in a capsule.
What is the AUREA certificate for?
It is a paper document for one specific piece: photographs of both sides, the parameters, a serial number, a seal and the appraiser’s signature. On a gift it carries the dedication. It does not replace NGC/PMG grading.
How quickly does the gift arrive?
Pieces in stock are dispatched within 2 working days; the certificate with the dedication travels in the same parcel. In-person pickup in Prague is possible during the shop’s opening hours.
