Auctions

How do your hall auctions and online auctions work?
Our company runs large hall auctions and popular eAuctions. We hold auctions several times a year, usually every three months. Hall auctions are held in person (often in prestigious venues such as the OREA Hotel Angelo Prague in Smíchov), carry a unique atmosphere and are also streamed live via LiveBid.cz. eAuctions run entirely online on the same platform from the comfort of your home. With us you can bid on coins, medals, banknotes, ancient pieces and faleristics.

How do I consign an item to auction?

1. In person: bring the items to our shop at Ostrovského 4, 150 00 Prague 5.

2. By email: send photographs and a description to info@aurea.cz.

3. Online form: upload photos directly via our website.

4. By phone: arrange a meeting on 604 273 741 or 797 626 623.

What are the auction rules?
Auctions are governed by Act No. 89/2012 Coll. and follow clearly stated rules. Bidding takes place online or in the hall under the conduct of the auctioneer. The winning bid is confirmed by the hammer, at which point the contract of sale is concluded. The successful bidder is required to pay the hammer price plus the buyer's premium. Payment can be made in cash, by bank transfer or cash on delivery (COD). Returns are restricted; authenticity is guaranteed.

What are the auction terms of business?

Can I take part in an auction in person?
You are warmly invited to our annual hall auctions, which we hold twice a year. Registration can be completed on site. Our hall auctions are held at the OREA Hotel Angelo, Radlická 3216, Prague 5–Smíchov. More here
Can I bid online?
Yes, always. All our auctions are streamed live on LiveBid.cz. Once registered, you can bid from the comfort of your home.
Can I bid by telephone?
Yes – on request we offer this service to clients for lots of their choice.
Where can I view the material on offer?
Viewing of the material always takes place ahead of the auction at our bricks-and-mortar shop and, for hall auctions, also at the venue before the auction begins.
Can I take my winning lots away immediately after the auction?
For hall auctions, you can pay on the spot. For online auctions, you will receive a link to choose collection in person so that we can prepare the material for you.
How do I find out the results?
Prices appear on LiveBid immediately after the hammer falls and are kept available historically at https://livebid.cz/organisator/aurea/archived
What other services do you offer?
Free expert consultation, NGC certification and expert appraisals. Buy-back and sales. Czech National Bank coins and gold or silver investment coins. If a client wishes, we can also arrange conservation or restoration work.
How do I submit an item to auction?
Send photographs through our online form or by email to info@aurea.cz, or call 797 626 629.
When do I receive the money for items sold at auction?
We settle and pay out as quickly as possible after the auction — we actively chase buyer payments and take care of everything, so proceeds are usually paid out within two to three weeks of the auction. For exceptional consignments an advance on hand-over can be agreed.

How selling at auction works
When is the next auction?
We hold auctions several times a year, usually every three months — hall auctions alternate with eAuctions. Current dates and consignment deadlines are in the calendar on the auctions page; we accept material all year round.
Who sets the starting price? Can I set a minimum price?
We set the starting price — it is meant to attract bidders, not put them off. By agreement, a reserve can be set below which the item will not sell. We are happy to estimate the achievable price in advance.
How can I send you material safely?
Most clients use Czech Post insured letters covered to the full value of the shipment; Zásilkovna is also possible. We first conclude a contract for online signature and send instructions on how to pack the goods and whom to name as the recipient. The offer is confirmed after delivery and inspection of the material.
